Chris served as Chair of the UK Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association and was an advisor to the former BEIS department in their hydrogen strategy development. Chris is also the co-host and co-founder of the leading hydrogen podcast , ‘Everything about Hydrogen’ and the Vice-Chair for Renewable UK’s Green Hydrogen Group. Chris originally began working on hydrogen through the World Bank, where his research helped secure the Bank’s first internal funding for hydrogen and other clean energy technologies.

Jon has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing operations and seven years working at the executive level. Prior to joining Protium Jon was Managing Director for TPG Maritime providing atmosphere systems into the submarine market. He grew business revenues by 60% and secured long term multi-million pound contracts, in the UK and EU, for equipment and services.
Jon’s hydrogen experience includes leading Tpgroup’s green hydrogen diversification strategy, supplying fuel cells for Hydroflex leading to an EIC prize, and overseeing the manufacturing of electrolysers for oxygen production. Recently Jon has been responsible for the installation of Protium’s first hydrogen production facility.

Tomoki has 29 years of experience working in electric power and new energy business. He started his career in Hokkaido Electric Power Company (one of Japan’s utility covering Hokkaido region) in 1996 and joined Marubeni (one of Japan’s top 5 conglomerate trading and investment firms) in 2009. From 2004 to 2006, he was also seconded to Japan Bank for International Cooperation (Japan’s public financial institution), providing him diverse experience in utility, finance, and project development. Currently, Tomoki works as President & CEO of Marubeni Europower Ltd. and leading the team to develop large scale floating offshore wind, green hydrogen, and various electrification projects in Europe.
General Manager of New Energy Business Development Department of Marubeni Corporation
Wataru Ikushima has worked with many power project businesses since joining Marubeni Corporation in 1990. He started his career in nuclear power business and was assigned to Germany from 1999 to 2003. From 2008 to 2013, he was VP & General Manager of Power & Infrastructure Division of Marubeni America Corporation. Based in New York, he covered power projects and water projects in the United States. From 2016 to 2022, he served as the General Manager of Domestic Power Project Department. He promoted IPP projects in the fields of thermal power projects and renewable, including wind, solar, hydro, and biomass power generation. He also worked on developing domestic power retailing business in response to the liberalization of electricity retail business in 2016.
Currently he serves as the General Manager of New Energy Business Development Department, and leads Marubeni’s activities in new energy and decarbonization areas, including hydrogen & ammonia, and CCS/CCUS.
